Sudden onset problem today (straight after jet-washing it if thats likely to have affected anything).

Central locking does the following:

Remote - does nothing to the central locking but does seem to set and unset the alarm
Drivers door Key - locks and unlocks drivers door only. Intermittently causes the "warning" beep of the horn as if a door is open.
Dashboard button - does nothing unless engine is running. If engine is running it operates central locking either way!

Any ideas what on earth its doing?

Afternoon,

Damn those pressure washers....
I would start by checking the drivers door lock actuator / mechanism to see if you got a lot of water contamination into it or the eleccy connection when washing it.

Other places, just because it can cause issues are the BCU and Fuse box / IDM to see if water has got in there.

Cheers

So last night I locked the doors manually one at a time, then locked the drivers door with the key and used the remote to set the alarm.

This morning I drove to the shop, got out, and out of habit pressed the "lock" button on the remote. All the doors locked (apart from the boot door, which currently has its actuator disconnected). I pressed unlock on the remote once and the drivers door unlocked, then again and the rest of the doors unlocked (ie all working as normal).

Repeated a couple of times and it all seems to be working again! Guessing if it is water in somewhere it might have dried out.

On the downside, the back left corner was right down on the bump stops this morning. Pumped up again quite happily as soon as I started the engine. Will check all the pipework etc for leaks sometime this week

Sounds fun,

Glad I have not washed mine yet, would not want probs with my Central locking as well.......:p:p.........Maybe worth opening the drivers door cover and spraying the actuator including the connector with liberal doses of WD40, plus it smells nice...

Try spraying the bag with Soapy water in ORM , maybe you got a bit of wear and tear on Saturday.
Remember best practice is replace both of them at the same time.

Good luck.

Cheers.

was it set to SPE(single point entry) before the missbehaviour? ... if the BCU(or IDM) starts making tricks like that even if at a point seems ok it can be only worst in time

I'm not 100% sure what it was set to when it first misbehaved.
I was parked up outside the Scout Hut unloading some tents to dry! There is a known problem in the vicinity with remote locking interference - the optimist in me thinks someone has a device which is accidentally causing interference. The pessimist thinks the known light-fingered-larry in one of the flats across the road has set up a signal blocker to help him break into cars. Either way, i'm used to the locking not working properly on any vehicle parked where I had parked.

Once i'd unloaded I drove up to a car park further up the village where the locking normally works fine and then was surprised that it still wasnt workign properly. And it still wasnt working properly when i got home.

I just happened to drive back past a petrol station with a jetwash which I knew was cheap, and powerful, on the way back. and thought i might as well get it done.

Yep will get the plant sprayer and the soapy water out...

Dan,

SPE, is that it only unlocks the drivers door when unlocked , unless you double press the fob or turn the key a second time, then the rest of the doors unlock.

Cheers

So... 24 hours later and central locking is still working fine (apart from the aforementioned back door)
The air suspension stayed up all day yesterday (car was parked from about 10am to 11pm, and then again from 11pm to 8am and didnt drop either time).
