Looking to install central locking for my 90. Loads of cheapo aftermarket kits on eBay and amazon, so all good there.

I see similar kits that do aftermarket alarms, but Its not clear if these need existing sensors or if the kits come with everything you need. Any ideas?

To get two kits seems cheap, but the combined kits are more expensive and seem to have bad reviews (maybe just bas luck with reviews). If I buy them separate, I'll have two sets of key fobs. Does anybody know if these aftermarket kits can be re-programed to I can use one fob on two kits?

Cheaper buying a several padlocks with keys. Jimmy the Dink don't care how you keep the vehicle safe as they want your car for parts.
Yeh you are right. Not as much of an issue north Scotland (touch wood) and I have several other security products already. I want central locking for my convenience and if its not expensive for an additional level of protection (the motion sensor alarm) then I'd like to add that too

Not familiar with Defenders having the Central Locking hence the quip. But depending how much you want to spend, might be worth popping over the scrapyard to see if they have newer scrapped rare I know Defenders to rob off. Are fellow Defenders champions here would happy to help with better advice. What part of North Scotland do you hail from for such isolation from Jimmy the Dink.

The kits are pretty generic, so I posted here rather than defender part of the forum. my vintage (1990) of defender has no hint of alarm or central locking so I'm hoping these kits come with everything required.
Above central belt Scotland the problem isn't really the same as in England. But when you live 25 miles from your nearest town, the problem reduces even more haha. Its also not my daily drive, so risk is again reduced and I'm happy spending that extra few mins putting on pedal boxes etc.

How old is your Defender, not sure when LR started putting in the immobiliser but the A10AS immob / alarm module actually comes with central locking functionality which was never used (early 10AS's need to have a relay soldered to an empty slot on the PCB)
Then only one fob still.
If your Defender is pre 'little black fob' then the after market kits are actually ok as long as you take time in fitting. They won't do an actuator for the rear door though, although you can do a mod with the lock catch and just use a spare actuator
