Hi Geezeer
I copied this from "myFreelander.co.uk" I hope they don't mind. You should take a look it is a really useful site.
BLANK NAVIGATION SCREEN AND THE RADIO HEAD UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON
Bulletin Number - 0054
Issue - 1
Date - 08.05.2002
Model - Freelander
Affected Range - Freelander fitted with combined Audio and Navigation system
Re-Issue Information
Problem -
BLANK NAVIGATION SCREEN AND THE RADIO HEAD UNIT WILL NOT TURN ON. This may occur when the system is turned on, or the unit may appear to switch off during use.
Cause
A software fault in the control of the CD changer, which occasionally causes the microprocessor to lock-up.
Action
Where a complaint of the above is confirmed, follow the reset procedure below.
NOTE: DO NOT replace the Navigation system or the CD changer for the above complaint.
Reset procedure
1. Simultaneously press and hold the "TP" button and the multi-function buttons 1 and 3 (arrowed in illustration1).
1
2. Hold all three buttons for 3 seconds or longer, then release.
3. If the system does not switch on then press the "ON" button, ensure that a map disc is inserted.
4. The vehicle must be outside in an area clear of high buildings, trees etc. to receive a GPS signal.
5. Ignore any "GPS MODULE ERROR" messages that appear. These will appear intermittently until the unit has confirmed its location from the satellites, which will take a few minutes.
6. The unit should then function normally.
Hope it helps.
