A friend has very kindly given me his Alpine cd changer (XQE000120D) out of his 53 disco.
Excited about getting something for nothing I was disapointed to find the connector on my 04 disco to be different.
I went to Halfords who informed me that they no longer sell cd changers or any type of adapter to link the two connectors.
I spoke to Land Rover Parts and was told (in a nice way) that they change the connectors annually to stop people like me doing what I was trying to do....
I have trawled ebay and google and this forum but as yet no joy.
Anybody got any suggestions...thanks
Just thought of trying breakers but doubt they will be bothered

Well thanks for all your suggestions.
I tried a local car audio fitter and they said no it can't be done because the head unit needs to be the same as the cd changer.
Under the impression that all the cd changers in discoverys were made by Alpine I contacted Land Rover parts at my local dealer, where a very helpful chap explained that there are three levels of head units....Philips low end, Alpine mid range and Land Rover (my one) top end and yes you needed to match like for like. I enquired about buying a suitable unit but, on close to £400 I smiled and left quietly.
Thanks again for all your support at this very difficult time, so close yet so far away, C'est la vie
Ps..at the same time my freind gave me a dog guard which I have fitted for the price of a fitting kit of about £16 and also a rear door ladder (fitting kit £6) which I have not done yet, because I need to drill two holes in the door and that makes me a little nervous. So two freebies out of three ain't to bad.
