Carpet Lining?!?!

I am planning to fit some carpet/lining in the rear of my 90 Defender and was hoping to find something similar to what is often used for lining car boots etc.

Does anyone know where I can get this stuff (dark grey felt-carpet sort of thing - not too thick as I am not pimping my ride - that is easy to cut, shape, and fit)?

As I am not hoping to do a coast to coast I am looking for something that can be ordered on the internet...

best bet is to visit your local carpet shop and buy some cheap contract berber with a rubber back, prob around £4 a square yard.

when was the last time you bought a carpet?
contract berber with rubber back? and £4 a sq yd..

im in the contract flooring game
a berber is a type of domestic carpet hesian backed or felt backed carpet..
ive never seen it with a rubber back...and if it did exist you certainly wouldnt get it for £4 a sq yd

what you need is a fibre bonded type of carpet,this can be ribbed or flat.

you can buy a cheap ****te carpet from carpetnotsoright this is £2 a sqm and has a crumb rubber type back on it,but be aware it falls apart and the carpet is as thick as tissue paper.

well...
i paid £3.76 per yard for a close loop nylon rubber back carpet, maybe not berber ..my mistake...i`ll consider myself told.

i went to the local carpet shops looking for offcuts and found some hard wearing blue and it was just enough to do the back of my 90 did the floor and up over the wheel boxes used some spray on glue that they sold aswell the whole lot came to £26

Thanks for the advice.

It seems I don't visit the local carpet shop often enough - thought they only did the very domestic sort of thing.

Regarding the spray on glue it seems that some are better than other (read carpet falls off with a bit of weather change). Any tips on a good spray on glue?

a domestic retailer will only sell ya the spray glue in the aerosol cans,its ok but not brilliant.
at work i use contact adhesive in a large pressurised spray cannister and hose,its superb but only available thru a dealer..

if ya could get hold of evo stick or similar contact adhesive you know that will stay there and not be compramised by weather or interior climate change

I used 15mm thick rubber sheeting - £30 for an 8ft x 4ft sheet from my local agricultural merchants. It's intended for lining orse boxes but it's bloody good for linin landy load areas and soundproofing.
I fixed it down with stainless self tappers.
