Hi Guys

I recently had to buy a new transfer casing for my 2007 landrover discovery 3 HSE 2.7 diesel. it has been put into the car however special programs are not working because the box has not been programed. my mechanics are telling me they cant program because my Electronic handbrake system happens to be faulty . it makes the loud screeching sound when i try to engage it. i therefore had to pull the disengage cable by the gear at some point to move the car and has remained that way for a while now. the story of the EHB and the gearbox transfer case does not sit well with me. my questions are

1) is it true that the case cannot be programed unless the EHB is fixed ?
2) is there a way to disable the EHB so that the case can be programed ?

It wouldn't surprise me if it were some feature of the software that won't allow any programming until all faults are cleared. Given that the handbrake will have to be fixed at some point before the MoT anyway, it might be the path of least resistance.

I wouldn't know about the programming, but I do have one little question, how are you going to get the vehicle through its next MoT if the handbrake isn't working?
given that you can live without the handbrake. i would not worry. i am in Ghana thats not a problem for MOT passing :) i am being told it is 500GBP to change the motor out. i am struggling to justify the cost

If its screeching the shoes probably just want adjusting/setting up, if the handbrake takes more than a couple of seconds to apply they need adjusting.
The handbrake is called EPB which may help you to search etc?
Search for EPB relatch procedure.

They shoes were checked the they thought it was fine .even adjusted it and all .i am attaching the sound it makes .maybe it will help nail down.the screeching was just for a short time until it locked down the car. It progresses into this pseudo rythem my guy has not heard before

Thats some weird noises almost sounds like its ran out of travel?

finally able to play it,

do u think the shoes could have come apart from the metal

or like a cable pulling the shoe on but can't engage

Havent a clue but it sounds likes it cycling as if its ran out of travel so either shoes knack or cable?

Hi guys

Yes I have had to pull the cable because it got stuck and won't disengage. But this sound was happening before the cable pull.
Lastly can someone confirm the second part of my question? Is it true you can't program transfer casing when EPB has an issue

Yes had to pull the cable because at a point the car for stuck because the parking brake won't disengage.

The transfer case can be programmed. It depends what diagnostics you have.

It only takes 15 mins each side to adjust the handbrake. I've come across right screamers that only need adjusting.
I haven't come across where a handbrake module has stopped any programming.of the associated models.
However, sometimes a wiring problem will prevent programming.

Might be worth asking on the D3 forum as there some very clever people on there and they will almost certainly give you an answer ref the programming situation.
