Can't open td5 with key fob

Hi all
I know this topic has been talked to death, but what is my next step....
The car has been fine and only tonight it has decided not to open the doors using the key fob. If I open it with the key in e lock, the alarm goes off when he door is opened.
I used the EKA to get the car home, so it does start and run fine, but not being able to turn off the alarm.
I put new batteries in the key fob, still no joy.
So.....do I have to send off the ecu to get the immobiliser disabled in the ecu?
Typical discovery, the interior does get a bit damp, but that is nothing new.
Or is there anyone near Dartford I can pay to plug in a laptop or Nanocom to disable the alarm on my drive?

Assuming the fob led lights up when you press the buttons?
Are you saying , even using theEKA the alarm is still going off?
Sounds like you need to replace the RF receiver in the roof.

I can drive the car after I do the EKA, and I drove it home after performing that sequence of key turns.
So I know the car starts and runs fine, so the issue must be the key fob or receive I guess.
Yes the red light on the fob lights up when the unlock or lock buttons are pressed, and I replaced the battery in the fob tonight too.

OK, so entering the EKA does disable the alarm?

Sorry, after the EKA the alarm did not go off, so I was able,to drive the car ok.
When I got home, turned the car off and then the immobiliser activates and I can't start the car. So I locked it with the key in the door, unlocked it with the key in the door and now the alarm goes off.
The fobs do not work still.

OK,

You can do a few things.

If you have sunroofs then the RF receiver is under the roof lining just in front of the rear sunroof. take the sunroof handle assy off remove the finisher and if you are gentle you can see the RF receiver in there, remove it and dry it out. Check connections / earth for corrosion.
Once dry, reassemble and see if the fobs work. If they do then prepare to buy a new receiver approx £30, it is plug and play.

Or , if you know someone with another D2, you can steal theirs to se if it fixes the issue.

Or, find a person local who has a nanocom ( or other diagnostics and ask them to check the vehicle, but you will probably still need to change the RF receiver.

Thanks for the reply. I have read about the receiver by the rear sunroof, so now you have told me where it is so I will look tomorrow. The sunroofs do leak a little bit, so it could well be damp.

So the only way to get into the car now so the alarm doesn't go off, is to do the EKA and then not lock it I presume?

If you know someone with a nanocom / hawkeye then they can turn the immobiliser and alarm off. Or change the settings to allow the key to disable the alarm.

Is the Nanocom linked to individual cars, or is that for the Dicovery 3's?

The Nanocom is unlocked for vehicle types not individual vehicles.

Nanocom is licenced (edit) FOR a vehicle and engine type. Not a specific VIN vehicle.

So a Nanocom licenced for a D2 will be able to be used on the BCU / SLABS side of a D2 TD5 and V8, but the engine diagnostics is only OK for a D2 TD5.

Unlock codes are available to allow the unit to be used on other engines / vehicles.

example,My unit is licenced for a D2 TD5: I can use my nanocom on another D2 TD5 and access all areas, on a D2 V8 i can access all the Body / ABS / SLS systems, but I cannot access the engine system.

I have spoken to two independent Land rover specialists near me, and both say the alarm and immobiliser can not be disabled, as I was going to get it disabled and just use the key in the door to open it.

II think that what you're being told by those "specialists" is that you cannot disconnect the intruder alarm completely, which is essentially correct, it is an integral part of the BCU.
The Nancom diagnostics device can alter the settings for the intruder alarm allowing various methods of entry. Obviously these alterations will lower the security levels which are applied to the Discovery as standard.
I have looked at the various settings on mine, but not too deeply, unlike @neilly who has more experience in this area.

@brian47 is correct , settings can be changed in the system using a nanocom, to the point where the alarm and passive immobiliser are switched off . Other diagnostics ie Hawkeye can do this as well.

If you put your genenral location, there may be someone local who can help.
