As there is very little in common between the Range Rover Classic and the current Range Rover and therefore the issues and interests are completely different.

This section is quite large with up to 2 pages of threads posted/replied to each day. Therefore if your interest or expertise is say classics, you need to wade through a lot of threads on P38's and others to find the threads of interest to you.

The same could be said about the Discovery area. There is very little in common between the current discovery and the series 1.

Good call.

I agree totally

Just been looking through some previous threads in this section. Do the owners/admin actually ever respond to suggestions made here or is it just a get it off your chest type area.

It appears that there have been a number of requests for new areas on the forum and I could not find any responses to any of them from someone that could make the changes. So am I just wasting my time starting this thread?

Things move slowly:D but I'm sure your world will not end if it doesn't happen:doh:

They mean a lot those 1 dayers...:p
I suppose they are still drunk after losing to even Ireland in the world cup.

With the way that England is playing in the World Cup and no answer to-date, it looks like I might be waiting a while for an official response to this thread.

Look Mr I Want It Done My Way Now..

You and others are correct, the RR section is mainly P38 related however one could say the 90/110/130 section is predominantly 90 related...shall we split that?

I think what would happen is that information would be more difficult to find as a lot of problems are common throughout the range, be it 90, 110, or 130 and then there's a seperate section for each engine...so if someone had a problem with say a starter motor..where would they look? It could be in any one of 4 or even 5 sections...the 3 above plus the 2.5 N/A section or even general land rover questions..

If the RR section is split do you go to the classic, the p38, the engine or the general section??

In principle its a good idea to focus on one model but in practice it would be difficult to implement.

The more sections there are the more polarised the posts become...i use maybe 5 sections very often, another couple occasionally and some not at all...and i'm sure i'm missing some good 'general' landy info due to this...splitting the sections further increases the risk of more shared knowledge being overseen.

Hope this wasn't ****.

I am very surprised that you are capable of anything than a smartarse reply.

So basically what you are saying is that basically every other land rover forum in the world has got it wrong and you have it right.

Based on your theory, lets combine the discovery and Range Rover sections. A discovery 1 has more in common with a Classic than a P38.

I cannot believe that anyone that knows the smallest amount about land rovers would suggest a Disco 4 has similar issues to a Disco 1.

As least this little thread has shown the real interest and knowledge of the people that run the site in Land Rovers and its members. It is a real pity, but often happens when sites are originally set up by enthusiasts and then later sold to people only interested in a profit.
