Hello all,
So it just so happened that one of the oil cooling lines gave up and emptied all the ATF out of auto box on my 200tdi disovery a couple of weeks back.
I sorted the pipes and refilled it to the mark with the engine running with dexron 2. From my rr classic days, I know changing all of the ATF at a go stirs up stuff in the box, upsetting the governor and causing it to stick in first when cold so I wasn't too surprised when this one started doing the same thing a week later. Back in the day, I took off the transfer case of the old classic, removed the governor from the back of the box and gave it a bath in petrol and was sorted for thousands of miles till its engine died.
In this case I cannot afford the time on account of preparing the house in anticipation of the arrival of a new member of the family as well as work obligations.
I have heard good reviews about lucas transmission fix and I was wondering if that could sort out this problem of having the transmission sticking in first all the time when cold.
Any suggestions much appreciated as the vehicle has become my daily driver since stupidly unreliable d3 was sold on, and crawling at first gear on the highway to work every morning for 5 minutes until it warms up is starting to really get tiring.:(
