i was wonderin if i can do away with the compressor for the suspension on me lse? the air bags were swapped for springs years ago and i don't intend to swap em back ;) I'm in the middle of making it a less rusty rangie (new inner wings, cills & floor) and the compressor and all the air pipes are sort of in the way of cleaning up the floor and chassis can i just un-plug it all and put it on me ever growing scrap pile?

Don't see why not, I take it that the little gizmo has been fitted to disable/bypass the EAS electronics in order to run on coils without the height sensors sending error messages. I wouldn't put the bits at the back of the garage, sell them on Egay, valve blocks and compressors fetch silly money. If you replace the compressor seal, you will get even mor as a lot of idle sods think the compressor is shot and either don't know about seal replacement or can't be bothered.

it was already on coils when i bought it so not too sure what was done, there does seem to be a missing relay or two under the drivers seat  i thought the gizmo for fooling the system was for the p38's? or is it the same for classics?

The EAS systems are similar. Why not just disconnect the multi plugs in the Valve box and see what happens. Worst case scenario is that you will get a fault message which you can disregard anyway as the car is not going to drop on the bump stops.

i would give it a try but the whole car is in bits as i've only just finished fitting the new inner wings and all the wiring/brakes etc is all over the place at the mo ;) i guess i'll have to wait til it's all back together to find out for sure. where am i likely to see any error messages show up? i assume there will be some kind of light on the dash? i can't really see it being a problem taking it out as the hoses are all disconnected anyhow and the compressor doesn't try to do anything

Sorry Rusty..I was in the P38 frame of mind!! If the compressor isn't running, then the valves are probably not working either. Just go for it and either keep the parts, though I doubt you or anyone else would revert back to air suspension, or get a few bob back and sell them-they are only gathering dust at the moment.
