Can I remove this guard without causing a problem?

Hi,

Apologies if this seems a daft question but I wanted to see if anyone had a view on whether removing the guard shown in the picture would cause a problem at all?

Basically, the guard is slightly bent and when the steering is locked to the left, the edge of the guard rubs on the front right tyre. Consequently, I want to take it off. It looks like it is just 4 bolts to undo to remove it but they are bolted into the frame. Will this cause any other problem do you think?

Hope this is clear and that photos show the problem.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes you can remove it but make sure you put the bolts back after. Go on paddocks if you want a steering guard. I have a 3 piece one with towing eyes, immensely strong and it cost under £50 in the end.

Does the car need to be supported in any way before removing these bolts? I am slghtly concerned at what happens if the bolt in pic 2 is removed and the LR is just sat on it's wheels. Looks like part of the steering mechanism?
