Hello, I have a P38, can I remove the coli packs (to renew them) without removing the air intake plenum which I heard someone call the bananas? I ask as I can’t see how they would pass through the gap.

Any help/assistance appreciated.

Cheers

Yes you can, bit fiddly to get em out but its easy enuff.... oops i take that back r dunno about the thor engin never done them

The official line is the upper plenum has to come off. I did try to change mine withouth doing so as the LPG system complicated things somewhat, but it proved to be impossible. Its not to bad of a job to get the manifold off, you can take a shortcut by leaving the throttle connected and splitting the assembly from the manifold.

Guy’s thank you, manifold off it is then, I was hoping not but sounds like it would be easier in the long run save on bruised and skinned knuckles!

Much appreciated :)

its only a 30 minute job on the thors engine (with lpg),, but as rewmer said you have to take the air plenum chamber off to get them out..theres 2 bolts you cant get to without taking the chamber off, its very easy really

If taken easy then it its simple (he says!) but here comes the bank holiday weekend and guess what I will be doing?

I have the packs and new leads ready to go, I got them for my disco, but sadly that has now demised, the P38 leads are at there natural end of life. Now I need to go shopping for a replacement for the Disco, fancy a new shape RR something around a 2005MY, if I can afford it.

Many thanks again

Cheers
Steve
