Was about to do this today and at the last second stopped. Dawned on me id be cutting a 30mm high X 150mm wide hole in my crossmember could be an MOT issue or structural issue as id be removing a fair bit of material.

Any issues with doing this?

Round abouts here -

There's no way id cut that out you can get some slim led trailer lights & just screw them on with 2 little screws
or pop rivets.

Btw I like the rear cover any more pics, id like to do something like that but I have a cage.....

That’s a dam good question......

I would have said out board of the chassis would be no problem, but where you have marked looks right on chassis line.

You are talking quite big holes too. Maybe go ask where you take for MOT. But yes caution here.

p.s I like your new inges (other thread)

Thanks :) may have some for sale soon ;)

Yeah im thinking im weakening a structrual part, i mean if that was corrosion that big itd be an MOT fail...

Got a plan B though!

As it is inboard of your actual bumper-line, why not put solid steel wrap-around's (surrounding the lights) on the chassis face and mount the lights inside them?

Don’t cut above the tow bar or near the chassis rails.
Have you looked at putting them into the back body next to the other lights?
Why recess the lights?

Not sure why you want to stick them down there...why not on the bar above tail-gate built in more easily seen...

What about changing the lights & fitting into the extended rear step?(into the tube)
Or are you using this as a protection bar?

Some of the modern hgv rear lights which are led are super slim, so I assume they must do car/light commercial ones?

Any lights mounted flush always end up being a pita to work on later one, or the box thye are mounted in rots out.

I take it you want to fit reverse lights?

Yeah standard on is ****e and I cant use the big bar most places. People tend to get very annoyed :p:rolleyes:

Bout 60mm deep or so. Either way ive got some other box led lights which can be bolted to an existing hole in the xmember - no cutting. Should be quite subtle too
