Can anyone provide a HOWTO on associating new key with HawkEye

Hi

I'm researching cost of getting a spare key for my D2. I dont watn to pay dealer prices but may go that route. Problem is I'm not sure if the HawkEye can program to allow a new fob to work. Can anyone provide a HawkEye howto? (I know Nanocom can do it, the problem is, I have HawkEye). I cant find anything on this in the manual so I am thinking that this is a feature missing from the HawkEye.

Hawkeye can program additional keys no problem at all, the only difference is that the key MUST be BRAND NEW with barcode tag attatched as there is no facility in Hawkeye to program "used" keys like you can with Nanocom.

There MUST be a relationship between the Barcode and the 6 digit code on the chip.

Once that relationship is known, it should be possible to work out one from the other.

I got 3 keys with my Discovery, when I bought it. I've also picked up a secondhand SLS fob.

Only 2 of the keys are programmed to the car and I don't have the Barcode tags for any of them.

I would like to be able to add the other key and the SLS fob to the BCU, using my Hawkeye.

Does anyone have a key with a Barcode tag that they could let me have the Barcode number and chip code from?

I would like to try and work out the relationship between the 2 codes.

The only relationship is that the 6 fig code is "in" the 18 digit code, the rest is random characters. I know someone with Rovacom which tried a few things to make it work but to no avail.

Hawkeye required BOTH 18 digit codes on the tag to program my SLS fob, even Nanocom simply would not do it on the 6 digit code.

This is one of things Nanocom still has over Hawkeye with "used" keys, the ability to program using the 6 fig code.

Hopefully, the "tool box" update, that I've heard tell of, will address this issue.

I'm off to the LRO Show at the weekend, I'll quiz Bearmach about it.

No, I'm afraid not

I did speak with someone on the Bearmach stand at the LRO Show in September and he said that quite a lot people had asked about programming used keys, I pointed out that it was possible with Nanocom and he said that they were aware of that.

He said that there was a 'toolbox' update planned for release in 2011, but he didn't know exactly what 'tools' it would add to Hawkeye.

So, I'm waiting to see what the 'toolbox' brings.

any updates? does anyone know if a rover 75 key can be programmed to work with a disco 2? the keyfob is exactly the same.

Did anyone manage to get it working iv only got the number off the chip and my hawkeye is asking for a barcode
