Could someone enlighten me about the 300tdi front camshaft bearing (part nr ETC8442). Should it be direct fit or does it need additional boreing after installation. The old bearing had grooves in it, so I decided to replace it. But after installation of new bearing the camshaft wont fit in the engine block. The hole in bearing seems to be somewhat 0,6-0,7 mm smaller than camshaft.

Yes it needs line boring. I am doing the same at the moment but all four. I have ordered the pre-finished ones from turner engineering which are supposed to be a direct fit and require no machining. Guess i will soon find out.

Thanks! Please let me know how they fit. Might be the easiest options also for me.

the bearings are supposed to be direct fit, some parts are better than others and its very easy to damage them whilst fitting them so cam wont fit

The ones from turner engineering fit well in my engine. Not a total success ( though that was user error )more info in my thread in this sub forum.
