Cam job

Hi I've just asked for a quote on a 90 300tdi for cambelt + kit and water pump whilst in for surgery , also for A frame bushes and ball joint all parts and fitted . What would be a fair price to pay . If I had a workshop I would do it myself , But I haven't so no choice really , unless your in macclesfield and fancy it .

How much have you been quoted?

Probably no change out of £400, could be a bit more.

Cam belt can be done on the drive in an hour or so, A frame bushes and ball joint could be a heck of a lot more troublesome for the keen DIY mechanic without all the special tools, namely a gas axe etc......

Thanks for your reply , That's about what i thought £450 . worse case scenario he first said £600 , I had a fit and that' s when he said probably wont be anywhere near that . i expect just over £500 all in with parts . I have used him for years with cars and always been spot-on £ wise , But hes not up on Landrovers and he had heard , the old scare mongers about the A frame , I just said yes for me and a hammer but not with a 20 ton press same as any other bushes .
