Caliper carriers - how interchangeable are they?

Hi all
I'm in the middle of changing the front brake discs on my 02 TD4 Freelander 1. (Alright, actually my mechanic father-in-law is, and I'm trying not to hinder him too much.. ;))

1 of the guide pins had jammed in the caliper carrier/bracket, and broke off as we tried to get it out, so it looks like the best option is to replace the bracket.

The problem is I want to find a replacement before Friday so we can fit it in time for the MoT retest, and a lot of online shops don't do express delivery to the north Highlands. Fortunately there are a lot of old Drovers in various states of repair around here, so I'll try advertising locally for the part.

Which brings me to my question: Does anyone here know which Freelander versions will have the same caliper carrier as mine? Does it have to be another TD4 of a similar age, or did LR keep them the same across the years and across the range?

And while we're at it, can the left and right carriers (not the calipers, obviously) be swapped? They look identical to me, but I've seen some advertised as NS or OS.

Thanks.

any td4 from 2001-2006 I have just change the calipers on the front end and was surprised that the bottom pin had a rubber seal from the end upto half way and yet the top was does not.

K series 01 on should be the same too.

And much better chance of getting a low mileage good condition example in the local scrappies.

Edit: Oops just noticed Disco_mikey already said that.

Thanks all, as it happened the local breakers didn't help but one of the garages did - they got one in the next day and saved me a 200 mile round trip to the nearest dealer.

With the miles I do, I probably haven't heard the last from my brakes so the above info may well come in handy. :p
