Buying a 200Tdi

Hi all,

New to the forum, first post, so hellooo everyone! Have liked the disco's for a long time, so finally buying one. Have found a lot of helpful info already on the forum, but have the following queries I wonder if anyone can help with?

1) Roughly how much would a timing belt cost to be done?
2) Rust under the rear wheel arch(s) seems to be a common thing. How serious is this, is it expensive to fix, MOT failure etc?
3) Headlining peeling away from the small top windows in the back, no sign of a water leak. I would have thought this should be easy to fix?

Morning and welcome!
1) I guess for a garage to do the timing belt you`re looking at around the £200 mark. Make sure they change the tensioner and idler pulleys as well.
2) No, it`s not an MOT failure, unless the chassis is badly corroded as well. Needs attending to quickly though, or it spreads like mad and looks horrible!
3) Get an aerosol can of spray glue and attack it carefully - headlining droop is common on discos, especially round the windscreen.
