Hi lads and lassies.
I'm looking for a good medium load STD height suspension kit to replace the one factory one on my defender 90.
Looking for suggestions on a suspension kit that won't break the bank.
I've seen brit parts but reviews a hit and miss.

Any help on this would be great

If you can afford it I would fit oem shocks and springs, but if you cannot I can recommend britpart standard shocks (about £15 each). I had them fitted to my 110 for about 5 years with no issues. They only started to leak after 6k driving around the Moroccan desert, If I had continued with normal use they would probably have lasted longer. Cannot help with springs i am afraid as I have always fitted OEM.

Cheers I might just do that for the now.
OK and what's the difference between medium and heavy duty and does that effect ride quality?

As above, post #2, OEM springs all day long - they are not expensive. I'd also second the BP shockers too  given that SWMBO's D1 has them on and they are lasting better than the terrafirma I put on mine

Presume you are doing the bushes too ? if so, I'd recommend either the solid superpro or split polybush ... no noticeable difference to us at least ;) ....

Are you talking about springs now? The difference is the weight rating. General rule is the heavier the spring rating the harsher the ride, but the more wight it can carry. Unless you regularly tow a fully loaded trailer or always driver around with a ton+ of kit in the back I would just fit standard ones.

I just use the OEM rubber bushes for the shocks, very cheap and had no problems with them.

Bear in mind when you come to replace them you will likely need spring retainer plates front/rear and front turrets (get the galvanised replacements) and if you need turrets you WILL need new turret rings

And how do you know this, one wonders .......... :D:D:D:D:D

(OP:- he is spot on .... new turret rings will be required ... no copper grease used at the factory, and the nuts self weld  )

I have had Britpart TD5 springs and standard Britpart shocks fitted to the rear of my 110 for almost 2 years. No problems at all. Done around 8K miles on them, so ordered them for the front for the rebuild. I would recommend them.

Just as a side note this is not the issue wit the turret rings, the issue with the turret rings is the are just terrible
When I changed mine for the second time (upgrading to HD after fitting a winch (Husky so very heavy)) they still needed replacing despite being very liberally covered in copper grease when assembled.
