Took the Series to Brooklands military vehicles day on sunday, great fun and the new exhibits are fantastic, they opend a whole new gallery last week. Anyway lots of Landys inlcuding quite a few Series. This year for the first time I joined in the "procession" around the MB world 4x4 course. In previous years I put it off for fear of breaking something but everything that could break is now in decent condition. I thought I took everything loose out, the course doens't look tough until you are on it so what could go wrong?. I used a dashcam but its mostly me swearing as i get hit by the hot coffee, CDs I forgot on the overhead shelf, the pliers and screw driver that came out from the parcel tray and when I hit the same marker post on a tight bend for the 3rd time. For anyone with an ex-mil Landy I stongly recommend it, you get in free and get to drive the 4x4 course and the test hill (I'm saving that for next year). Find the date on thier website and write in about a month before hand for a form.

I completley left out the point of the message above (senior moment), it was to say how impressed I was with the capabilites of my 47year old Series. In the 4 years I've had it this is probably the first serious bit of off-roading its done. It dealt with all the obstacles with ease and really suprised me with just how good it was off road. Bear in mind this is a LWB with a Dormobile top, sink, toilet and no end of stuff and a 500lb Perkins yet it just went up, over or through everything.

Been there a few years, if you google Brooklands military vehicles day as images/videos you'll soon see some pictures of it. Its a couple of years old and a decent size, it runs the whole lenght of the entry road on the left where the track is on the right. Normally the only way you can get on it is to pay MB for an "expereince" so this is bargain. My only beef was that we were not allowed in the wading trough which looked like fun but what we were allowed on was more than good enough.

Up trees, over pedestrians and through walls was it Rob?
Ok maybe I should have worn my glases?
Sounds like a good day out. I assume the new engine continues to run well?
Yes its got a lot more power, its got an annoying rattle that I think is small eng bushes - about the only thing I didn't change so I may do those next summer, for now I can live with it and even with that its so much quieter I can hear the radio, a first.
