Hey guys,

dont ask me how I managed it but I have snapped off about 10mm of the rear door key inside the lock! I have tried to get it out with no luck.
Whats the best thing i can do? new lock and key?

Mike

I'd imagine aside from taking the lock's barrel apart to retrieve the missing bit it'd be easier to fit a another lock.

I thought it would mean a new lock, any one know where I can get one from?

ummm how i did it?? I dont know haha, was out shooting in the earlier hours of the money in and out of the boot and next morning tried to get in and found half the key missing!

We've managed it in our lass's car by taking the lock out, turning it face down and ****ting it a few times .. a Landy lock ought to be used to being ****ted about a bit, so it might be easier than taking the whole barrel apart ... ;)

Sorry, our lass's car is a Nissan Micra ... :)

I took my rear door lock out (to change the springs) by doing just that though ... rear door panel off, then undo the screws holding it in. A good tip is to take a few decent pictures of the linkages or label them so you can get them back into the same orientation, or the lock won't work. They're mostly length dependant though, and won't fit properly if put in wrongly, but still best to be sure .. ;)

what about a thin bit of metal (jewelers screwdriver?) a very small blob of superglue & a steady hand ,since the locks fecked with that bit in worst case is its still tatered best case is that the end of the key comes out.

No warranty of any kind implied or given lol

i think they sell the bit you are after at rimmer bros , part no rtc6688 in the discovery1 section then the body fittins and finishers section .
hope this is of use ...

after climbing inside the boot, in 26 DEG !!! not the best idea i know! and removing the rear panel, handle and speakers I took everything off the latch and lock assembly, put it back into position and tried the central locking. the back lock went up and down as it should, which it did not do before hence having to use the key. I tried the door from inside and it opened! I couldnt believe it! no key and it opened!
got out the boot and tried it from the outside..... and it worked!!!
I could not believe it! so yes there is stil half a key broken off inside the lock but now having seemingly fixed the original problem the door opens with the central locking! HAPPY DAYS!

Also while one I had a look in to why the rear electric windows didnt work, read up on the here and found the thread on checking the solder on the ECU under the glove box, found the faulty solder, re-soldered and bobs your uncle another little job sorted!
