Anyone got one fitted?

Mine just arrived (cant argue for £125) and fitted today, overall decent quality but the mounts need modding and the instructions are worse than chinease ikea!

Just wondering how it will fair when off road, all the bumps and jumps knocking it around etc... Its pretty well secured, wondering if its worth taking the spare off and chucking it in the boot when doing proper off roading. Chunky tyre 285/75 on a steel wheel.

Haven't got it fitted now. Took it off when I restored the Landy and decided not to put it back on. Gave it away to another LZ member, who was after one.
The reason I didn't want it on my new door was the 'bouncing shock wave' the wheel used to transmit through the door. Did a lot of damage.
From my experience it would be a good idea to take your spare wheel off before doing bumps and jumps off road.
 
offroading is no problem with a swing away carrier. having an oversize spare on the door hanging off the factory carrier is a disaster though and will rip your door apart. Even the standard wheel isn't great on them really.
 
Cheers boys. Went off roading today, there doesnt appear to be any damage from the swing away but the tyre ruins the departure angle! So spare will come off and sit in the back in the future.
 
Yeah I thought so, though only real option. Tyres too large to sit on the bulkhead + got a locking top cover now. When properly off road ill just take it off, doesn't take long.

Sounds like a good plan.
I used to watch the shock wave run through mine when closing the back door. Admittedly, you had to close it quite hard to get it to latch shut properly. Even so, with a standard door close you're accelerating 5 stone to a canny speed so the final force will be decent.
 
I have one fitted (think it's the britpart one). I fitted it 6 years ago, hasn't failed me once, and I have done many many miles and lived out of the car for a good few months.

Only think I have has to do is spray a little grease into the hinges so it doesn't squeak. Maybe done that 5 times over the years.
