Looking at all the bolt on goodies like shocks, springs, brakes etc, what are/ is the best quality makes - Britpart, Terrafirma or some other make? Be interested in your views. Looking for quality as well as value for money.

britpart super gas shocks are good ive fitted alot of kits cheapish and no complaints, not everthing britpart sell is pooor by a long way

as grimmer says, have a read through this and decide:

I don't leap to the 'automatically crap' view, but have read enough to source OEM wherever possible. Think they're generally OK for lumps of metal, but for machined items I'd avoid - just my view

you do have to rember though the pattern parts are only a small range of the stuff they do ,as with bearmach ,i wouldnt expect much from there pattern shockers or any at a £10 each but the yellow ones and cellular have been very good . its like buying cheap brand cornflakes from tesco and kellogs fom asda and declaring tesco ****,good morning mr station

And a good morning to you to my friend

Zero degrees here this morning - glad I'm not working on the Landy today!

iam fitting a gearbox back in outside, seemed a good idea the other day ,but is taking a bit longer as keep doing a bit and coming in for a cuppa to get warm ,

no not good its funny how much difference a few degrees make on your hands ,not the same as old fashioned hard work which keeps you warm, would you like a suris ive got bored of mine but cant get rid of him

suris?

Is that a Toyota?

I'll pass James - other cars I have are a Z4 and 330d M Sport Tourer - Petrol companies love me!

That said, might trade for 2 used Airedales:D

PS - think we're now guilty of going seriously off thread - sorry all:eek:

I accidentally ended up with Britpart brake calipers front and rear, and Britpart discs on the rear. 18 months on, calipers are absolutely fine. Discs have only been on a short while, but no problems yet.

In contrat, Britpart rocker cover gasket has leaked for all eternity.

You get what you pay for, TF suspension is good quality and you pay for that, britpart is cheaper and the same goes.
But I've had Britpart rear brake drums, and they were like an egg on the inside, my dad had to machine them to make them run more 'true' but they were a tenner a piece, so as i said before, you get what you pay for, theres better stuff to be had anyway

So now I know to avoid Britpart by a country mile, maybe someone could recommend great gear for suspension tweaks? Also I'm guess from the articles posted that Alive tuning can be relied upon to deliver the goods...?

Thanks for all your posts.
