Dot 4 the brand is up to you. Dot 4 is back wards compatible.

Agreed, just wasted a lot of time on this and the answer is DOT4. Same chemistry as DOT3 but higher boiling point. Do not go to numbers such as DOT 4.1 or 5, they are very different. DOT 3 ok but not common, DOT 4 best.

I would not use DOT 5. it is more compressible and gives a spongy pedal, most DOT 4 is now synthetic and its easy to get. DOT 5 is silicone and can't be mixed so you are stuck with it. DOT 4 can be mixed with DOT 3 (it just behaves like DOT 3 then).
