box section fail mot ???

hello i have been to a mates who does weldin he did 1st say that he was goin to weld my sills in to a box section not sure wat size tho ????

he was planning on tack weldin it but he said that it wouldnt pass a mot ... ??? :confused: (badtime)

he said that he would have to weld it different cant rember wat he said it was and said it will cost a lot of money ????

any advice would be great i am seein him friday so i will get more info on it

do you meen he's gonna gut the old sills out and replace with box section? if so and done properly i cant see why should be an mot issue. should be stronger than before and bet theres a few on here already done the same and can tell you more.

if there not that bad(just the bottoms hanging out of them) get a local fabrication shop to make you some reapir sills(if you were closer id make you some)

i just folded it to the correct contours of the old sills and welded them on easy:D and straight through the mot

but they will need to welded fully which is a ****e job as welding a landy is never fun but when you have to do the best part of nearly 4 metres of welding(thats both sides) its a long old job:p
