Ok - so I'm new on Landyzone (the forum looks great, so I'm planning to stay...!!!) and I've just bought a 2011 Freelander. - I collect it Monday. Here's a link to the ad: https://goo.gl/6diBZ8. I'm paying £250 less than the advertised price. I'm sure I should have been on here months ago doing my Freelander homework, but hey - that didn't happen. So what should I be checking first on my new purchase, to be confident that I now own a reliable vehicle.? Many thanks in anticipation for your suggestions.

Ask when the Haldex Maintenance" was last taken out, if not the last couple of years or if the car as done more than 20,000 miles since it was last done, hten look at getting that checked and changed, make sure all tyres are the same, when was the last full service, check to see if it as more than one earth from the battery. when were the belts last changed, does the front heated screen work, any wining m noise from the rear diff etc, does the hand brake hold good between 3 -7 clicks holding fully on 4 with 3 in reserve,

would help to know the mileage it has done, just brought my 2011 with 110,000 kilometers on the clock, recently serviced, all running fine, whilst putting in a calix motor warmer notice oil stay on front of engine, not had time to investigate it yet, but am told it could be a split oil pipe or just the jubilee clip on breather tube not tight enough. But that is the only thing. Really happy with it.

Have they had it a while, its done 2 miles less than it had on the clock for its MOT in September as per the MOT website
The garage is only 5 miles up the road from me.

Thanks chaps. Yes - the car has been for sale for a couple of months, and has been reduced in price a couple of times. Apologies for my ignorance, but what is needed to 'service' the Haldex, and is it part of the service schedule, or would an owner need to ask a garage to attend to this as an additional job?

Mot history shows around 51k miles
