Rust? The casing is an alloy casting, it's news to me if alloy rusts
The cost to refurb these are crazy worth more than the car as I found out with £700 bill for FIP.Just what I decided to do many years ago,I changed the manual gearbox on a mate's car and acquired the transfer box 95k it's done.It's the small motor casing and drum that's surface rust which you expect. The main casing is ok as been protected by engine oil
Spoke to Ashcrofts and they were not interested. I may just keep it as a spare.

They were used in Leyland vans some were 4x4 versions.
I have for my sins and my current one is now a donor car.
