My boot light has not been working since I brought my hippo a few months back. I thought I'd change the bulb as a boot light is real handy on dark nights. Trouble is, the bulb is fine but the previous owner had removed a cable. On reconnecting this cable the light came on. Great:D
No, not great. The light stays on ALL the time now.
So, does any one know where the switch is located to switch the light on and off with the boot door? I reckon it's a broken switch after using my clever detective work:cool:

well not 100% sure on this but read my thoughts not quiet sure where the switch is located, but it is not a switch of the type that is a push type, think its in the door mechanism, the cables can be located on the rhs looking from rear door, you have to undo the plastic cowling[this is the same place to locate tow bar wiring] the cable to the switch is black / orange, this is a earth return system [volt free] so you will not be able to measure 12v as it connects to an interface [ccu] via interior fuse box f8 [15a] is the supply for this , the only way to check this switch safely is to use an ohm meter disconnect the suspect wire blk/ orng[ [i think] put one probe on wire, other to earth and open and shut rear door, ohm meter should go on off, could also be a poor earth, maybe more feedback.

Thanks for that Ming. Gone are the days when cars were simple to work on.
I'll pull the tailgate apart one night and get the volt meter on it to measure the resistance as you suggested. Hopefully, just a bad earth.

The guy that had the motor afore ya ,had the light on all the time [hence wire off or bulb out] give some feed back on wot ya find . . .

Hi There ,

My 1st post too!!

I also have this problem, light was not working, but not a blown bulb, last owner had taken a wire off.
I also noticed that I get the door open light on on the dash every now and then.
Think I will have a look at the door switch also
