Hi there,

I've looked through the forum to see if i could find this anywhere else, but with no luck.

When trying to check the oil/water this morning, I pulled the bonnet release handle, and the bonnet didn't open, but I didn't feel a distinct 'snap'.

Is it possible that the mechanism is just stuck, or a bit stiff, and I need to give it a yank with some pliers from the cabin end?

Also if it is snapped, I bet this is a b*tch of a job?!

Thanks,

Oscar

firstly just try pulling the bonnet up. works with mine...you dont hear the bang of the bonnet release but it is unlocked

Cross you fingers, and everything else. I recently had the opposite problem, the catch stuck open so wouldn't shut properly, fortunately after lots of WD40 it popped back after about 50 miles. Meanwhile I looked into removing the catch.
According to the book you must first remove the radiator, see chapter 3. Chapter 3, removing the radiator, first remove front bumper!

The bonnet release inner cable can become detached from the lock or break (unlikely) if it's detached you can pull the inner out, by pulling the T handle.

If it's not detached then pressing down on the bonnet above the lock while someone else pulls the T handle will allow or should allow the lock to release.
