bonnet kepps popping open when driving

hey guy my defender 90 bonnet keeps popping open when driving, usually after going over a couple of bumps can anyone help me out, ive looked at the catch mechanism and moves feely and opens normally when catch is pulled.

unscrew the retaining pin (Mounted to the bonnet) make sure you tigthen the locknut back up. This will move the cutout on the pin, down a bit further. You coul also try winding the Rubber bump stops down half a turn and se if that helps.

I take it that it stays on the manual release catch, if so then check the routing of the cable, (inner and outer), Almost certainly an adjustment issue. Set it all up correctly and it should be fine. Sounds like the cable may be too tight or the latch pin too high.

yea manual release is stopping it hitting the roof, thanks guys only joined today and ur help is much appreciated, one further question how will I know if I have unscrewed the pin out enough or too much

You could ditch the sensible ideas and whack a huge off road tyre on the bonnet, that'll keep it shut

If it int far enough down the catcher plate won't lock into the groove and you'll be able to pop the bonnet. If it's too far, the bonnet will lift slightly then it'll lock into place.

make small adjustments and see how it goes.

Put your spare wheel ont bonnet that stops it lol
