hi
Apologies for asking again..I had some useful help last night...I have a series 3...1971...and just starting to do small jobs before spraying and the bonnet catch in my mind is not right....so...

If you move the lever to the left, is the bonnet meant to spring up and open, or is it meant to got to intermediate, I caught on the latch like modern cars and then you pull the lever again to release fully...

You see, I have altered the main pin up and down, re greased it and even moved the latch plate which sits on top of the grill so the pin lines up but all I can get is bonnet open or closed and no intermediate...does anybody know the definitive answer please....I spent last night on it and again the last hour and I can’t get an intermediate setting!!!

As far as I can recall, (my bonnet being held with military side fasteners) it is a single action, if you push the lever over, the bonnet is released fully. There is the safety hook but pushing the lever moves it out of the way. The hook is there to catch the bonnet if the bonnet comes up unintentionally, same as any car but the opening lever overrides it.

I had same problem. It is supposed to spring up then push lever again to open. I adjusted bonnet pin so that the threads of the pin are just through the fixed nut on the bonnet by approx three threads. Works a treat now.
