Blower motor replacement.

Easy job. It comes out with just 4 screws and plug. You can see the motor if you stick your head where the clutch pedal is.

Update Nodge. The blower motor is fine when the engine not running, but when the engine running it sounds like vibration from the front driver wheel arch area. The plastic cover seems where the problem lies.

Check that the plastic splash guard hasn't been pushed in and is catching on the air con pully, did it on mine.

Yarp! its a TD4. Just curious why the blower fan being can effect the damper pulley in use but not when blower not on seeing the engine still running. I had just done a 16 mile journey via the motorway without the blower being on and no noise.

I assumed the increased load imposed on the pulley by the alternator supplying the electric for the fan, could make the pulley skip and slip.

The bottom of the plastic guard has tabs that fit on the inside and some on the outside to hold it in place. Thinking back, mine only made a noise when the air con was switched on so I thought the compressor had gone, but it was just the plastic shield catching.

Well just tried that and at the moment there no noise from the front wheel arch. I went for a small drive and as I parked with a warm engine and put all the lights and fan witth a/c on max. Touch wood not a peep. But I will keep an eye and ear just in case. On a side issue away from the noise my passenger door fails to open with the fob key and now the key also arrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhh.:mad::mad::mad:

Passenger door only opens when you use the fob a second time. If still not working then replace the lock mechanism, it's a common fault and fairly easy to replace.
If I recall correctly there are two motors in the mechanism, one unlocks it enough to be opened from the inside and the second pops up the button when you use the fob twice to let you open it from outside.

The lock is the same part used for the Rover 75.
The Rover 75 door lock is similar to the BMW 3 series door lock. So it was BMW meddling in Rover that was responsible for some of these failing. The door locks weren't the only parts to get cost cutting under BMW ownership.

You need one of these in your back garden for the removal of parts from :)

I bought it for its IRD and VCU - which still aren't on my car! - but I've had loads of goodies off it (roof rails, lights, seat, console, drinks holder, wheel nuts, sunroof motor etc) for me and mates. If I need a part, I just go out the back garden :)

Hello Gang.
Was racking me brawn over where the blinking noise was coming from. Turns out my blower decided to give up and sound like a bag of marbles. Is this an easy job or a sod and take it to a garage.
Unlucky mate. Have you managed to sort it yet. I believe these are decent but only what ive urd.
