We all have days when our vehicles play up. Makes yer appreciate the day or days when it works ok.

i even stopped earlier to help a gold freelander it was slinging it down with rain, hazards on bonnet up,lady owner said i think the head gaskets gone again RAC are on there way to recover it:( she seemed quite ****ed off it had failed again, but you dont know if it was fixed right the first time

True. A lot of our head gasket failures are either down to the job not being done correctly or a coolant leak which creates the hg failure as a secondary effect of the leak. Nice you stopped though. :)

from what i read on the rover 75 forums, alot change the hg and skim the head but dont look if the liners have dropped or fitted the modded oil rail:(thats one of the aspects of our tdi,s we dont face its normally a straightforward job,k series owners really have issues if the mechanics not clued up

When the liners start to move/vibrate they just get worse. There's a spec to measure against to see if they're correct. I think they should sit just above the head surface so they're clamped in place. It's a shame so many miss this. The oil rail mods etc are a good idea. Some like the newer gasket where as others don't and have gone back to the original.

I must say yer Freelandering knowledge is growing by the day. This is a good sign. Secret lemonade drinker? :pound:
