Morning,

I'm looking at some bling for my pimpmobile and the only acceptable bling seems to be spot/driving lights. I've ready enough guides on how to wire them in (will probably still cock it up mind), but the bigger question is size.

The standard seems to be 8", but one or two front on photos I've seen with what are claimed to be 8" look a bit dwarfed. Although I believe the LR option were 8" so one should assume that'd look right?
Wattage is also an issue, seen some nice Wipac 8" jobbies on t'internet, but they all appear to be 100W, as I recall 60W is the legal limit for highbeams, so would that not make those spots illegal (the bulbs anyway), or does the law not apply to spots?

From reading, it seems to be a no no to fit spots to the front of a p38 as it blocks the airflow to the rad

Just get your L322 and stop spending money on your shed :p

Sir, I find your reply non-constructive and unhelpful to the current situation. Quite frankly, I feel the service you provide does not meet my customer service expectations.

I believe the airflow thing is a moot point as the cooling on a P38 is overly engineered. When my stat was stuck open, even with the rad 98% blanked, I still struggled to get out of the blue. At low speeds while crawling up a hill, the majority of air over the rad is fan powered and at high speeds you usually get too much air over the rad. Although I suspect it will generate considerably more drag as the air becomes turbulent, I'm hardly trying to crack land speed records.

I was given some sage financial advice, I've decided to hold off replacing my bus until I either secure my hopeful new job or I'm told it'll never happen. Until then, I'm going to bling up the old girl. Maybe I should get a little roof scoop, but fill it with an amber light with the words TAXI stamped on it. You know, give it the true metrocab feel.

Straight 8" lamps will look a little small on their own, most LR fitment where in conjunction with an A Bar or Bull Bar so looked better....

you are right in the legal limit and you'll find 100W are only for spot lamps - i.e. off roading trails etc....and not for legal road use....they should be independantly wired through a seperate switch and not used with the road lighting at all else it will not pass muster.

The cooling on the P38 is marginal in normal conditions, if yours does not get out of the blue, you have a problem with the stat or the gauge sensor and maybe the viscous is seized.
Last year at -17C mine was up to normal temperature in 5 Km.

I did ponder this. Not wanting to sacrifice a unicorn to the Gods of eBay for a nudge bar to turn up, I may need to find some alternatives.

I don't really want display lights, so I'd need to change the bulbs before doing anything else.

It was the stat which was stuck open, since replacing the stat it sits at normal and rarely leaves. Usually only ever drops a tad in stop start traffic before picking back up after a few seconds.

A lightbar wouldn't look right on a P38. A full roofrack with lights attached might work, but not really my java. I've had vehicles with roof racks before. The wind noise was unbearable.

Nice !

****e, why try to convert a perfectly good road car into something that gets dirty and drives over rocks and things? Mildly damp grass if you must but anything else will ruin it. Is that one of those gas fuelled thingies with no spare wheel carrier? :D:D
Just let people live their life's lol everyone is differant :p

I sort of like that look, but I know how bad a roofrack can be. In something less luggurious, I'd go that route.

If life was like you three we'd all be sat around a camp fire eating bratwurst.
