Bleed screw

Hi All, just joined this forum but have been using stuff off it for the past year or so and have found it really useful! I've got a 1995 Disco so as you can imagine i've had plenty of use from this site!

Just a couple of questions, does anyone know the name of the bleed screw on top of the thermostat housing (or is it just called that)?

Mine broke off a couple of days ago and ive been using a stick with some cloth around it since then. This works ok with the expansion cap off to keep the pressure down but i'd like to get a new one and cant find it anywhere.

IIRC they are a 1/2 inch BSP threaded. When you get it out take it to a plumbing suppliers and ask for the same in metal.

Actually get two and replace the radiator one while you are at it

Alternatively ask Santa for a pair of these for added bling

get a domestic radiator bleed valve - cheap (>£2.00)

One of these 1/2 bsp as stated £1.40 or was at B&Q plus an O ring or fibre washer to suit.

- no - dont go for the blanking plugs - go for the ones with the ickle square air bleed in them - yu can then bleed the system when the engine is hot/running, without scalding yoself.

yes even at £7.50, would go nice with me performance manifold and stainless/silicone turbo hoses.
