Binnacle mount replacement

Bought my Raptor binnacle mount when they were first released so that is a fair number of years ago (2013 if not before?), no problems with fitting and of course it has stood up to the test of time.
Followed it up with the binnacle itself (it took several years of persuading before they found the time to develop & produce it) and that has also been a great success.

I see SP state they weld the mounting lugs whereas the Raptor ones are bolted, can't see that makes it any better as I found the adjustment available in the Raptor mounting made for a better fit. o_O

Friend has a raptor mount and brinicle in his 90 and it was what I was going to purchase for my 110 rebuild until I found a replacement dash unit that still had its lugs. As soon as they break though the raptor would be my first choice. I have the centre console form them and the service dealing with the company and quality of the product is excellent.

I went for the SP one in the end, despite them not having a phone number to speak to anyone. That put me off, but I like the idea of their powder coating having a texture so I went for it.
It’s shipped apparently, so I’ll do a review here when it arrives. Fingers crossed.

Fitted Raptor binnacle mount & then binnacle to my Defender about 10 yrs ago before the big rebuild. Got fed up of loose binnacle rattling & every secondhand one I looked at had broken lugs. Hardest part of fitting was getting the steering wheel off

Fitted the SP mount and all is good. It’s high quality and fitted with no worries.
I then used the plastic form the old mount to repair the cracked and/or missing mounting points on the binnacle and it went very well.
Plumbers PVC waste cement is the perfect glue for this kind of plastic and I even bonded some washers to the plastic with no issues.

That's good to know about the solvent adhesive. Half the problem is finding
The right glue.

It really is the biggest problem with plastics, and I’m happy to have found the right glue straight out of the gate.
The binnacle is all back together now and feels really solid. Using the broken rear mount for the repairs sections has kept the material the same both in looks and for glueing and worked well.
