Hi all!!,
Its been quite a while since i was on here as i was travelling and working.... anywho, i want to put some rather large tyres on my truck... my concern is... my truck is an auto and i don't know if I go too big will the tyre diameter have an adverse effect on my gearbox??
I was thinking about 275/85/16 do any of you gentlemen (or ladies) think this could be a problem?? iv been looking at maxxis creepy crawlers and trepadors.

In advance a massive thank you!!!!

Are you having a laugh. The tyres will raise the overall gear ratios. Don't know what regulations are over there, similar to here i would think. But here your speedo will be illegal. 30 MPH indicated road speed 35.5 MPH. 60 indicated road speed 71.1 MPH. Look forwards to maybe knocking a few bits of bodywork off with them also.

It's OK they've got a truck as well as a Disco :)

I've said it before, but I'm still amazed at the number of people who buy a perfectly capable vehicle and then they go sticking huge knobbly balloon tyres on it which tend to screw up the handling, the turning circle, the transmission ratios and suspension.
Here's a good idea, why not fit a +4 inch lift too? Then you can screw up the prop shafts as well as the handling.
Either that or they want to stick rubber band tyres onto 26 inch diameter rims.
FFS what's the matter with the recommendations from the manufacturer. The correct selection of tyres on the standard rims and your vehicle will do almost anything and go almost anywhere you want it to.

You'll love this then.

FAO @Thor1950 Just so that you know, this is a supreme case of "irony"!

But don't they look just stoopid? And goodness only knows what they handle like. Obviously it's a "pimped city ride" so off-road capability doesn't even come into it.
Only in America.......... classic ghetto cruiser. Nice cars are often ruined that way. These rims and tyres are worth more than the car

+1^^^ ...and i've said it few times as well, the SAFETY is seriously affected too... to not speak about the engine's longevity.... i reiterate: 255/65 or 255/70 Pros and Cons?

better this :)
