I'm doing a carb rebuild on my old scimitar and they don't make the original gaskets anymore, never needed to cut my own I've always used off the shelf stuff.

So what's the best quality gasket material anyone has used?

Some car spares places still sell the proper gasket material in sheets, can get various thickness's, would use the right stuff, though corn flake packs could work!

I buy sheets of gasket material in any thickness from a place called Ram Gasket, on the Cadrew Industrial estate in Redruth. Not particularly convenient to you, but there will be others around the country, I just found it off Google originally.

For a carb you don't need something as thick as a cornflakes packet, a sheet of ordinary 80gm copy paper is OK.

Either that or brown parcel paper.

Just remember to oil it before putting it on! ;)
