the sage continues, this time before I get to chip the dse I now have overheating, car down on power, overheating, and water running into passenger footwell, currently in a layby somewhere

Yes I hope that's it. And I have also had an intermittent electrical prob for a few weeks that no-one has been able to trace. I wonder if water has been spraying out for some time behind the dash. Could be it

I had a matrix leak on me, did so for over 6 years, and I had no idea where it was coming from, despite me losing a carpet, good place to check first maybe.

My water leak is on the passengers side, no water on drivers. Does this mean it is not the O-rings ? Anyone ?:violin:

Could be aircon condensate drains are blocked. Under the car up either side of the gearbox are 2 drain pipes, poke a wire or such like up into them and prepare to get wet

Mmm - thanks, I'll have a look for these tonight.
But at the same time the engine overheated, temp shot up to max & engine shut down to minimum revs. So how can loss of coolant get into the left footwell ?
