Hi peeps,

done a quick serarch in here but nothing immediately comes up, also searched through the handbook but again nothing springs out at me.

Freelander I, 55 plate. TD4.

I get out the car, lock it with the fob, walk away... come back. Sometimes (and as yet I have found no comonality for this), when I unlock the door, again with the fob, single press usually, the open the drivers door there is a sucession of double beeps.

Beep beep, beep beep, beep beep etc...

This remains until I put the key in the starter. If I don't put the key in the starter the beeps go on for a short time then just finish.

Any ideas what this means? Doesn't seem to affect the running of the car.

Thanks,
KH

Mine does that. I think it sounds cool personally. People ask me what it is and I just make up cool stories.

She'll be less amused when she finds out you could have just used the key to unlock the door and turn off the alarm

don't beat yourself up too much. not long after I'd bought my td4 auto, parked in the high street, no problems. came back, just wouldn't start, didn't even try to turn over.

immediately fearing the worst, all kinds of immobiliser issues floating round in me head, I summoned the good mrs prime with a spare set of keys, who was not best pleased at having to come out to me, bringing the kids with her as there are only little.

odd, thinks me, spare set not starting it either. At which point, the good mrs prime leans in, and moves the gear selector from drive to park, and it started 1st time.

she only uttered one word at me before driving off. she doesn't even have a gun, so why would she be off to the hunt ? (thats what it sounded like any way)

had to be a bit humble about that one.

Mine does that sometimes even if I put a new battery in. I've just got to the point now where I ignore it. Or wind my 6 year old son up by telling him the car's about to be launched into space :)
