Bang/crack noise on windows and now drivers one is 10 mm low

Both front electric windows on the disco have occaisionally banged or cracked loudly when going up now the front drivers window is about 10mm short for the top of its travel what is causing this and what is the fix ?
 
The window regulator has finally given up so remove and repair if you can or you may have to replace it.

are they repairable ?
I can do that :D

I know you can palace, :D one of mine went years ago it was the nylon sliders that broke up resulting in the twisting and bending of the arms so I went and got a new regulator.
I still have the broken one so may repair it one day, if I can find so hard nylon block to cut and shape and then straghten the arms.. job done :)
Also some times the spot welds may have come apart so if thats has happened with yours get it re-welded or drill holes and rivet.

so realistically new ones for £50 the pair are what is required :D
 
Yes that's it........... the RH side is STC2882 and LH side STC2881 the numbers have been updated now as my front passengers side regulator was CUH102310, that cost me £75.20 from a main dealer back in December 03.:eek:

Mod your fuel pump! I didnt do the full power screw etc due to I did not like the sound of drilling etc. My 300 flies low down now but safe top end and if towing heavy stuff up long hills. Easy 35 MPG and not hanging around. I was going to scrap it before doing this and now i favour it over my D2 TD5 with a re map. The 300 is lighter and more nimble and nicer to drive. Not so nice as a mway cruiser but thats the only up side of the D2! Its only nice on straight, smooth roads and if your close to a garage!

I had a 200 recently that the glass was loose on and was about 10mm low.

I was gonna leave it cos I wasn't bothered and thought the reg was screwed.

One day I decided to look in and the glass had simply come out of the rubber channel and was sat on the nylon bushes next to it.

Got someone to help to hold the glass up, then I fitted the rubber strip to the glass and shoved the whole lot down into the metal channel.

Window sorted!
