Sadly it's not for me at the mo' buuuuuut, you can get a V8 in a III without fitting a Defender front end to move the grill forward?

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm interested in that!

Er, are you asking if you can get a V8 in a Series without messing about with the grill position, or not?

If you are, then the answer is yes. It's been done quite a good number of times now. I think part of the reason why some people put Defender front ends on, is to make it look like a 88-inch version of the Stage 1.

Ahh, cool. I always thought you had to move it & that put me off as I think the III's front end is better looking than the Defender.

Well, there's a thought then for the not so distant future then. Mind you, I'd have to uprate my brakes..............."Call out for SHEDDY!"

Cheers chap.

Just remember, you'll have to move the engine mounts, and modify the footwells, so that the footwells will clear the exhaust manifolds of the V8.

You will also have to modify your insurance and bank account for the fuel bill.Your insurance company will want an engineers report to say that you have upgraded your brakes. The list goes on...just buy one done its cheeper...Banditman has sold it now and it went cheep. Just over £500....

Miniman, I've been told that you can get 20mpg from usual traffic driving, which is perhaps even better than 2.25 Litre Petrol engine....

Ah. I never even thought about that. Yes you are right. If driven well they are very good on fuel but if you are heavy footed then OH dear. I drive a 2.25 Diesel with 90 diffs and a few mods its very fast for a Diesel. I also get about 35 to 40mpg on motorways the higher. People sometimes don't believe me untill we go greenlaning. Last weekend we went greenlaning so I filled it to the top I left home at 9am we had an hour for dinner and an hourand half at pub all the rest was driving. I returned at 7pm home. The next moring I filled it to the top again £19.93 to the top of the filler. THATS CHEEP if you ask me. OH and a liter of oil....LOL :)

I would have thought the 2.25 Litre Diesel would of struggled with diffs of a higher gearing, considering that the ones I have been in, have had trouble.

Then again, I suppose part of that is down to the engine being worn.

So you say you get high MPG? Would like to know more how you do such a thing... after all, I'll be looking for cheap alternatives if possible, to run a Landy. Considering that fuel isn't cheap, other than gas, which I don't want, or should I say, can't put on my 2.25 Petrol, as the engine will be due for a rebuild within the next few years.

Its alot higher geared yes and its just great I can stay in 4th gear till about 30mph then I have to change down. Top speed in about 30mins it gets to a huge 85mph but it takes time and no wind ECT ECT. Hey if you are over this way you are welcome for a bru and I will take you out for a drive.... I have only once had it to 85mph and that was on my way to blackburn on the M65. Not nice at that speed all over the road..:D
