Was thinking a bit of diesel on them going to do radius arms first so ball joints can have few days soaking
Agreed, do you have a tool for pressing the ball joints out of the axle?
Your going to need one, also the bearing hubs can take a bit of influence as well.
Normally while your in there, replace the drive shaft seals as well.
Under the lower ball joint nut there is a collar, do not move the collar from its position!! It dictates how high the hub carrier sits for the drive shaft seal and don't forget some new oil for the diff. It'll thank you for it unless it's been replaced in the near 20yrs!!

Also..... The axle is allowed only three ball joint changes in its life!!
Look for paint marks or punch marks.
This last one I did for a client I punch marked it with 2 dots as they were original from 2001.

Got the tool and axle seals got all the hub nuts new this is first set of ball joints that will be changing on it I got lemforder ball joints
I know not to move the adjustment nut on bottom ball joint as neighbour told me not to adjust it cause will put all out of line

Curious as to why if it's allowed three changes & yours was the first you punch marked it with two dots effectively making only one more allowed?
What am I missing?

Good point... That was actually the first change as there was an absence of marks.... Mental note to self... Quit being punch happy.... I just like the look of the dots... Hang on, three changes or three sets in one axle life??? It's to prevent ball joints being fitted to an over stretched opening.

bu the time a ball joint has been fitted and removed 4 or 5 times they will push in by hand
