Hi guys ..

so I have taken the landy back to the garage to get a few problems sorted under warrantee ..

I have been loosing about 2lt of water on an 80 mile trip, no obvious leaks , additional to this I have a oil leak on the passengers side somewhere around the screw on filter ..

Im thinking that its the head gasket , the two issues might not be related but the loss of water with no apparent leaks would make me think head gasket ..

what do you guys think .. I will let you all know what the garage says this week, wish me luck .. lol ...

2 litres of water in 80 miles is quite a lot, you should be able to see signs of the leak even if it is the head gasket. Get a torch and mirror and have a good look at the back of the head. You can get a dye for the coolant that shows up under an ultra violet light, good luck with the garage.

I had a pretty good look , tho didn’t check the back of the head with a mirror, tbh I’d had expected to see something..

Will have to wait and see what they say , they seem like a pretty good garage and reasonable ..

I will post there findings , they are meant to be calling me mid week ..

Just an update , garage called , and they have confirmed it’s the start of head gasket going .. they have agreed to do the work under warranty.. I’m very pleased it’s getting sorted ..

Think the oil leak and water leak was all part of the same problem..

I thought this might have been the case .. well , hopefully once its done it will last me a while .. :)

Well.... it been nearly two weeks , and I hadn't heard anything about the head gasket or when im likely to get the landy bk ... I called them this morning but the guy dealing with it isn't in the office , they said he will call me bk ...

Im wondering if the head needed testing , or skimming .. ?

Head check/skim; That would normally happen as a matter of routine good practice, they would not risk just fitting a head gasket and doing all the work for it to go again if head was warped or cracked.

Get yourself to that garage fairly sharpish! Nothing worse than dealing with people over the phone and not really knowing what’s what

Ok ... its been three weeks ...

and tomorrow Im off to collect my 110 ... :) I was told the head was checked and all was ok , but they have done a lot of work , should find out tomorrow ... hopefully it will all be good now for another 100k ...

So a little update ..

I got the defender back , tho im a little cross , the garage said there was some to pay about £300 , said that there was a lot of work done , and there is a cap on the warrantee , I told him that it has been this way since I bought it and the other guy there had fobbed me off at times which he did .. He reduced the price to £200 , which I was still angry about , I wanted to get the Landy bk its been three weeks and six weeks since I booked it in ..

Am really cross , but couldn't be asked to argue anymore with him ... I had a reasonable good service all the time I was spending money with them , but there attitude soon changed .... :(

and to top it all off , I have found a stray bolt in the ashtray ..... i hope its one that was replaced ..
