I have an 07 plate Disco 3 which has recently developed an issue with the auto transmission. The fault shows up routinely the same time, distance and location and the panel shows three problems - transmission fault, limited gears available - HDC unavailable - suspension lowered. At this point theres no option but to pull over, stop, remove the key and restart which clears the issue.
I have cleared all fault codes and after the fault recurred this week I rechecked the system with an autoboss tester and had the following codes show up ;-
U2023
P117E
UO401
UO402
UO100
UO416
UO128
All seem to point to the Transmission Control Module but are non specific.

Any ideas or experiences that would give me a clue would be much appreciated ?

You could also check your battery and alternator output, had similar on a 08 V8 petrol, think new alternator and battery sorted it, but didn't have the fuel pressure codes HTH.

Folks - Thanks for the thoughts. Doesn't feel like a fuel problem as there's no performance loss, sluggishness or missfire. When the thing kicks in the engine doesn't die, just won't take throttle and the drive is lost.
I've looked at a lot of the tags and understand that the battery and alternator are usual suspects, but none of the rest of the threads I've seen have produced the sort of faults I seem to be getting.
It happened again yesterday when pulling up a long stretch of dual carriageway, and I also had the fault list show up a Parking Brake problem which I hadn't included in the earlier message.
I'll certainly change the fuel filter as good practice and let you know what happens, in the meantime if anything else crosses your mind(s) I'm all ears.

Thanks

It sounds like it keeps going into limp mode. If you do a search for this there are a few threads on other sites about testing the battery and alternator under load. If you think it is still the gearbox it might be worth checking when the oil and filters were last replaced in it

As above, you need to check the alternator output under load and also check/change the autobox oil and filter.

Changed fuel filter with no effect. Opened up the old one which was clean as a whistle.

The battery is original and has never need a jump start. The fault however is happening with greater frequency but always clears and restarts on the key ................ I'm talking about 4-5 times on a 20 mile trip.

Battery got to be worth a try ?
