hello,

This thread may need moving later,

So, my RRC 3.9 02/1993 needs a new viscous unit due to the previous owner covering a hairline crack with Liquid metal, cant even see where the crack is and the metal is everywhere,

Found an autobox and viscous unit out of a RRC 3.5 08/1989, will it be a straight fit ?

Only thing stopping me at this moment is that its in deepest darkest devon, long way for me to go for it not to fit...

The Borg Warner viscous coupling is part of the transfer box is it not? so that's all u need, not the auto gearbox, unless you want the gearbox as well.
Don't know about the compatibility of the gearbox but the BorgWarner transfer box is the same

viscous unit is in the front output housing you could just replace that or fit any rrc borgwarner unit

Ideally i'd just want the transfer box,but as the auto box has done less milage (90k allegdgely) so makes some sence for £100

So, as per my original question, will an autobox and viscous unit out of a RRC 3.5 08/1989, will it be a straight fit into a 93 RRC ?

yes viscous units are the same on all rrc and p38 ,fair point for 100 you may as well have both

Beware of buying VCU's of unknown condition, I did a few years ago & having paid a garage to replace the partially seized item on my '93 RRC I found the allegedly 'good' VCU was just as bad. Got my money back from the breaker but obviously not the labour costs, lesson learned the hard way :(
