Hi all, I have a 2001 td4 es auto.
Got in on Friday after being parked for about 45 mins and when drive is selected it feels like it is trying to pull off, also when drive is taken up there is a lurch as it changes from 1st to 2nd then when it changes from 2nd to 3rd it is as though I have been rear ended! I have done a resistance check and pin 16 to pin 18 is open circuit. Am I right in thinking that I need to change the 2-4 brake duty solenoid valve? I have also checked the oil level and it is ok. Any help much appreciated.

When was the fluid last changed?
The Jatco is very sensitive to fluid condition. Having nice fresh fluid will cure all manner of operational problems.
However no drive could be a sign of something seriously wrong. A split piston springs to mind.
Does it select reverse or manual selection in command shift?
More information is needed;)

Carlube ATF-U is perfect for the box. I expect that having a change of fresh ATF-U has dislodged some dirt, which has become lodged in a solonoid. Check the resistances, if not done so already. Then maybe consider removing the solonoids for cleaning. I'd be looking at the 2/4 brake duty solonoid, the 2/4 brake timing solonoid and the line pressure solonoid.
