I am looking for someome to remap my D2 TD5, mobile (at home) if poss. I know of Celtic Tuning and RK Engineering, neither of those will do. just wondered if anyone knows of any others?
thanks

Have you got any more info? I googled "dyno chips" and nothing stands out. Do you have a web address or phone number/email?

Also, would this be a chip rather than a remap? I was under the impression a remap is "better", whether that's true or not....

Crikey,I didn't know that. I had it booked in with Celtic Tuning. They have a delivery service (emotion tuning.co.uk i think) where they send something out and you remap it yourself. I am not keen on that idea, not sure why really. Anyway, my vehicle is suitable for that, maybe because it's a later 04 model. but they sounded surprised that it was compatible with the 'postal remap' so maybe most aren't. How can i check which ECU I have?

I want mpg if poss, and mid range power boost as it's sluggish as hell (way more than any other disco i have ever driven). Thanks

If its sluggish, i only just found out my td5 was as such due to a bad MAF. Could be something to check before.
I was Considering a remap with a MAF delete but my insurer wanted an extra £64 for the last 4 months of my policy, which i think is excessive. I aint driving it much at the moment for obvious reasons! So just ordered a new MAF.
Anyway, check your MAF first. Dan from Storm tuning got back quickly to my queries, so when i renew my policy im going to add a remap and will go with them.
Most tuners will accept a couriered ECU which they remap then send back to you.

Interesting. I wonder if I can "test" my MAF sensor somehow? Or, maybe buy a used one on fleabay and plug it to see if any difference. I really would like to get one of these fault readers (especially with times as they are) so I can diagnose things myself in future, i plan to run this thing as close to forever as possible.

5 seconds on the search function on here will give you all the info you need on mike at dyno chips
- haha. oh so he's on here is he? Google includes the entire world, as well as this forum. I spent several minutes, not seconds, on google, and found nothing for the words you provided. That would suggest i need more. But you stick to your guns there pal, the 30 seconds you've spent replying, could also have been used to give me enough info to find a link or maybe a username on here. but dont trouble yourself. by the way, one post said Mike, the next said Mick. You were obviously a fan of Krypton Factor.

I think that was covered many times... unplug the MAF and go for a drive, if it drives better this way you need a new one, as about that remap service which was mentioned with the wrong name(''dyno chip') here it is http://dynachip.co.uk/index.html

Excellent, I will be unplugging today! Thanks very much - I am slowly finding a list of threads to read on here but it's early days for me with a Disco :). So much useful info here.
Dyn A Chip - ha, what a difference a letter makes. Accuracy = Efficiency. :)

0.33 seconds ...

Will investigate that, thanks everyone.

I tried testing the MAF this evening. Drove car up road, stopped, unplugged MAF, drove again. I did this three times (six one mile drives, 3 with, 3 without MAF plugged in). Honestly not sure whether it made a difference. At first I thought it did, seemed like more power without it, but 2nd and 3rd time it didn't seem much different. Should it be exactly the same with MAF unplugged, or slower? If it should be slower, I definitely have a problem with MAF because it certainly was not slower without MAF plugged in, if anything it was quicker pick up. But possibly no difference and all imaginary.

I could try cleaning the MAF, or maybe just order a replacement good one to try for comparison. But one thing did happen which seemed a bit odd..

On one of the test runs, I think with MAF unplugged, I pulled away in first and it pulled ok, then into second and felt a bit dead, then suddenly I got a kick up the arse like the turbo may have just kicked in. Only spotted it once, almost like I was pulling a heavy trailer which just fell off!

If any of the above means anything to anyone, please shout! thanks

I say again, if the MAF is fubar the engine runs much beter with it unplugged... as about what happened with that intermittent power gain migh be a sticking wasegate, watch from minute 1.30 and do that but spray some lubricant to the shaft at the turbo side

Yes, it was that comment which made me go out and test it. It was not "much better" so I guess that rules out a bad MAF. Interesting video, will go and lube that and see how stiff it is. thanks

HAHAHA. I didn't want to sound silly by saying so, but that's exactly what it "felt" like, and I wondered if that could be it! It went along ok for a few hundred yards then I kicked it a bit harder and it hesitated, and then caught up, as if it was looking for MAf and couldn't find it, then kicked to backup program or whatever it does when it sees MAF is missing. Thanks!

The hiccup is the ECU realising that the MAF is not working, I have had it as well.

Though according to the quoted part it's not the case cos the management should have been already on default with the MAF unplugged
