Hi all

I have got my starter motor off my 200TDi, and no matter what I do I can't get the solenoid to actuate or the starter to turn. Given it a +ve from my jump pack and nothing! I've cleaned it up best I can too. So, i'm going to take it to a refurb place near work.

Trouble is, I can't get there without the landy running! All the local factors either don't stock them (2 days wait) or they are unrealistically expensive - scrap yards closed, of course!

So, anyone in the midlands got a spare starter I can have? Beer tokens waiting of course. :D

Sorry can't help I'm too far away. Sounds like you have an auto gearbox so it can't be jump started? Do you have any brakedown cover in place?
Good Luck.

Hi mate

I have a manual - so the car can be tow-started (that's how I recovered it home), but if I get up to work I might struggle to find a volunteer to tow-start the landy again the other end!! I do have some breakdown cover, but I think they might be a little miffed at a call out if they turn up to get me going and find I've whipped the starter out. :)

Yes, they are sure to notice that, but if all else fails bolt it back on and call them out.
In the meantime I hope someone can help - Good luck.
