On a smooth floor? (Yes, luxury - I know).

I'd be very grateful if you could measure from the centre of the crankshaft pulley down to the floor, and then up from the floor to the top of the chassis rail at the front end of the flat part that starts behind the front axle arch. Needs to be on the flat part as near to the front as possible because most tratters are slightly nose-down and so the height will increase as you go backwards.

The pic may help. The left arrow is the height to the crankshaft centre.

I should add the why, please and thank you!

Why? Putting a different engine in and need to make new mounts, but the muppet in charge of the project forgot to measure the height before he removed the engine and cut the brackets out.

Please don't get cold or dirty on my behalf - only if you're going under anyway.

Thanks in advance.

I was trying to avoid complicating the post, but here's a bit more info!

It's a Jaguar V12 and I doubt that the brackets on it are at the same height (from the crank centreline) as an LR unit. The crankcase may be wider too, and because the mounts are angled, that'll affect the height too. Add to that that this engine has to be laterally central (because of the width of the exhaust manifolds) whereas the LR unit sits a bit to the left and you can see that it's not that simple!

I could just hang it level and get the gearbox mounts (which also need a bit of hacking to centralise it) at the right height and work from there, but I haven't got the finished bellhousing adapter yet and would like to finalise the chassis and get it away for galvanising.

ps. I know the transfer box won't fit too easily.

Giving my 110 a service sometime next week (if it doesn't snow/rain/tornado) so will be under at the sump end. Can give it a measure if no one has done it before me.

I've spent most of the last two weeks under the fecker, unless it all goes pear shaped again I don't plan on getting back under it...keep ya posted :D
